Jeep Wrangler fails crash tests in the US
At the end of 2018, the Jeep Wrangler embarrassed itself during EuroNCAP crash tests, receiving one star out of a possible five, but even a year and a half later in the United States, where vehicle safety requirements are not as high as in Europe, the Wrangler has not come much further. The Insurance Institute for Highway Safety (IIHS) gives it two out of four stars.
The stumbling block was the impact test against a fixed barrier with partial overlap. In two out of three cases, the Wrangler was unable to stand on its wheels and tipped over on its right side.

IIHIS experts noted that “rollovers increase the risk of injury and are not an acceptable outcome in a frontal collision.” On top of that, the SUV lacks side airbags, which could improve occupant protection in a rollover.
