The Ferrari crossover was caught by photo spies for the first time

Ferrari continues to develop its first crossover, dubbed Purosangue (“Pureblood”). The prototype of the model was first photographed during road tests. However, the debut of the model is still a long time coming – not earlier than 2022.

Judging by the photo, they decided to disguise the test mule as a Maserati Levante SUV. However, under the dense camouflage, it was not possible to hide the details that indicate that it is the Purosangue in the pictures. Compared to the Levante, the model is noticeably lowered, and the hood is lengthened due to the engine compartment, which will be located in front within the wheelbase to improve weight distribution along the axles.

It is known that the crossover will receive an electrified power plant. Back in 2018, Ferrari shared a schematic image of the main components, which showed the hybrid system located at the rear, next to the gearbox - presumably the dual-clutch 'robot' from the SF90 Stradale.

Purosangue will be based on a platform that allows the use of V6, V8 and V12 engines – including with electric add-ons. Judging by the massive compartment, the Purosangue prototype was equipped with a 12-cylinder engine: it is also indicated by exhaust pipes reminiscent of the tailpipes of the GTC4Lusso and 812 Superfast with V12. Such an engine may go to the top version of the crossover, while Ferrari will offer a more modest V6 in the base version.

Ferrari Purosangue, like the new models of the GT family, will receive a special interior architecture with a new steering wheel, instrumentation and multimedia system. The Ferrari Purosangue's equipment list will include an all-wheel drive system, a new suspension with ride height adjustment, and a screen for second-row passengers.
