BYD will release a crossover with a design from Mercedes-Benz

The Chinese brand BYD and Mercedes-Benz presented a series-ready new product under the common Denza brand: the large crossover Denza X with a 587-horsepower hybrid unit. In fact, this is a second generation BYD Tang, the design of which was thoroughly worked on by the German side. To dispel all doubts, the car even has a “Styled by Mercedes-Benz” sign on the body of the car.
The dimensions of the Denza X are the same as those of the BYD Tang: the crossover reaches 4890 mm in length, 1950 mm in width, 1725 mm in height, and the wheelbase is 2820 mm. Although the Tang and X have similar shapes and glass lines, all body panels have been created from scratch. At the rear there is an LED strip connecting the lights, and at the front there are narrow LED headlights, like the concept car of the same name, presented in the summer.
Ford decided on the name of the crossover “in the style of Mustang.” Specialists from Mercedes-Benz were also responsible for the interior design: the central place is occupied by a tablet from which the car’s functions and multimedia system are controlled. The screen position can be changed from horizontal to vertical, and its diagonal is an impressive 15.6 inches.

Behind the wheel is a 12.3-inch diagonal virtual instrument panel. The tunnel has a gearbox joystick, and above it there are three round air ducts. The position of the seats can be changed using door remote controls, just like in Mercedes-Benz models. Decorative wood inserts and leather upholstery add solidity to the interior.
Denza X received a hybrid installation, which included two electric motors and a 2.0-liter turbo engine, the total output of which reaches 587 hp. The transmission is a six-speed preselective “robot”. In addition, a 245-horsepower all-electric version with a power reserve of 500 km on the NEDC cycle has been announced.
Jeep has tested a competitor to the BMW X7. The production model will premiere at the Guangzhou Auto Show next week, and sales in the Chinese market will start in 2020.
