Volkswagen showed a 250-horsepower Golf GTE
Volkswagen showed off the Golf GTE HyRACER hybrid hot hatch, which was developed by 13 interns. In the name HyRACER, the syllable Hy denotes the hybrid powertrain, and RACER refers to the “racing DNA” of the show car.
For the project, the trainees prepared a special body kit with front and rear aprons, a splitter and wings that increase the width of the Golf GTE body by 80 mm. At the rear there is a diffuser, a spoiler with a brake light from Arteon and dual exhaust pipes in the center. The car has a customizable sports suspension that lowers the ride height by 40 mm, specially designed 19-inch wheels, 264 mm wide tires and 380 mm brake discs.
There are two sockets in the trunk for charging electric scooters, and under the hood there is a metal plate with the names of all 13 interns who worked on the project. The power plant of the hybrid Golf GTE based on a 1.4-liter four-cylinder engine for HyRACER was boosted from 204 to 250 hp.

The GTE joined the eighth-generation Volkswagen Golf family in February this year. Its rechargeable gas-electric power plant consists of a 150-horsepower 1.4 turbo-four and a six-speed robot with a built-in 116-horsepower electric motor. In total, it produces 245 hp. power and 400 Nm of torque. A 13-kilowatt-hour traction battery allows you to travel up to 60 kilometers on a single charge.
